What to Expect

Amara offers a safe, empathic and supportive space for you to come and be heard and explore issues. She has extensive training in mindfulness and meditation techniques, cognitive behavioural therapy, stress managment, and other evidence-based therapies. Amara brings to her practice warmth, insight and a deep respect for each person's unique journey and process. She skillfully weaves together mindful self-awareness and other therapies to assist individuals in making meaningful changes in their lives.


Rebates - Medicare and Private Health Insurance

Medicare rebates are available if you have a Mental Health Plan from your GP. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for up to ten individual sessions and ten group sessions per year. The rebate for each session is $84.80. If you have private health insurance, you may also be eligible for rebates on the cost of your sessions. How much you receive will depend you the type of policy you have and your provider. 



The fee is $150 for a 50-60 minute session.

Some concession places are available.

Other Specialist Psychological Services

I offer specialist counselling for people who aer victims of crime and have trauma symptoms and recurring issues as a result. For example if you have experienced sexual abuse and/or physical assault.  These sorts of trauma usually require longer term therapy and you may be eligible for bulk billed sessions. Please contact me for more information.



I am a registered National Disability Support Scheme provider for individual or group counselling.


Remote Sessions

Skype sessions are very convenient. If you are interested in having sessions via Skype please contact me. if you live in a remote area in Australia you can now have Medicare rebated sessions by phone or Skype. Please contact me for more information.


Personal Develoment Groups

Amara runs regular groups where you learn new practical skills and understandings to help you with stress, anxiety and general wellbeing. We use positive psychology, mindfulness meditation practices and art therapy. Please see the 'Workshops/Groups' section for information about the next workshop.
